The Oregon Business Plan: A Forum to Showcase and Vet Policy Proposals
OBC launched the Oregon Business Plan in 2002 as an ongoing collaboration between Oregon’s business community, its elected leaders, and other key stakeholders to achieve greater economic growth and shared prosperity across all of Oregon’s communities and regions.
The Business Plan’s strategy to accomplish shared prosperity focuses on three imperatives: 1) grow, create and attract good jobs, 2) prepare Oregonians for the jobs of today and tomorrow, and 3) increase access to supports that advance economic mobility.
Business Plan policy work goes on year-round, but our signature event and showcase for that work is the annual Leadership Summit, usually in early December. The Summit typically draws more than 1,100 business, elected, civic, and nonprofit leaders to consider issues that impact Oregon’s economy and life. The event spotlights economic challenges and opportunities, it vets proposals and recommendations, and it stimulates discussion and networking among leaders across sectors. The year-end timing is ideal for taking many of the ideas and recommendations vetted at the Summit forward into the coming legislative session.
